Macross F

Posted in Anime on December 31, 2009 by kumoriha

Decided to finish watch Macross Frontier, finally. Alto is THE pimp. Despite (or perhaps because) of his girly looks. Personally, I don’t particularly like the characters that much, but the songs are good. Well, as long as you ignore the lyrics. Including the various mangled English, although there is some English that isn’t raped and tossed in the incinerator. I guess the lyrics have a good hit/miss ratio?

Noteworthy points of Macross F are, from what I can tell, mechas and music. Guess I’ll go watch Gundam SEED like Samuel suggested after this.

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
花火(hanabi) – fireworks; literally “flower fire”. ‘Nuff said.

Fire◎Flower by halyosy, sung by absorb.

Electric Love Lyrics

Posted in Lyrics with tags , , on December 30, 2009 by kumoriha

Decided to translate a song. Gasp! Yeah, did this on a whim for fun and to improve my Japanese, kind of. I’m not sure if the translation is 100% correct, and my translation might be a bit weird. Oh well. May do more later.
Edit: Argh. WordPress doesn’t support Nicovideo embed. Bugger.

English:

Electric Love Electric Love Ah…
I’ll convey these feelings to you.

As I look up at the sky, I’ll see the sunset gradation.
The orange and black mix together.

Illumination, full of light,
The city’s electric circuit runs.

My voice turns into radio waves
and cross over to you.
My song turns into radio waves
and resonate to you.
My love turns into radio waves
and reaches you.

Before my electric circuit shorts…

Electric Love Electric Love Ah…
I’ll convey these feelings to you.

On a night with a full moon, the stars are shining
And the darkness and light mix.

Electric waves with nowhere to go
confuse my feelings.

My voice turns into radio waves
and cross over to you.
My song turns into radio waves
and resonate to you.
My love turns into radio waves
and reaches you.

Before my electric circuit shorts…

Electric Love Electric Love Ah…
Electric Love Electric Love Ah…

My voice turns into radio waves
and cross over to you.
My song turns into radio waves
and resonate to you.
My love turns into radio waves
and reaches you.

Before my electric circuit shorts…

Electric Love Electric Love Ah…
I’ll convey these feelings to you.

Electric Love Electric Love Ah…
I’ll convey these feelings to you.

Pain in the…ear

Posted in Life on December 29, 2009 by kumoriha

Ear Wax Removal Kit has not fulfilled its mission yet. 2 more days until deadline and mission failure/abort. Should’ve gotten the more expensive non-Walgreen’s brand one. Decided to put a few drops in the right ear as well, since the doc said that there was some buildup there too. Can hear less out of right ear now.

Insert swear word here.

Still, the feeling of the stuff is interesting. It’s like…bubbling inside your ear. Very unique sensation. It starts getting a bit itchy at some point…everyone should try it! In any case, I have gained the experience of an almost deaf person.

On a different note, I really really hate keigo. The hell spawn of Japanese…Lesson 19 is torture. JIII class is going to have some fun when we get there…eventually.

New Year’s fireworks are coming! Fun times, get deaf(er), and “accidentally” fire a bomber at Clint.

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
引き籠もり(hikikomori) – a person who has pretty much extreme social withdrawal. You know, those people you see in anime/manga who stay in their rooms the whole day in front of the computer and figure collection, surrounded by trash. Yep.

Vocaloid Ranking #117

Posted in Nico Nico Douga on December 28, 2009 by kumoriha

On Nico Nico Douga. Wow, it’s been a year since Hajimete no Koi ga Owaru Toki was first created. First place this time is Rainen Kara Ganbaru (I’ll do my best starting next year). I guess our inner procrastinators (and outer) gave it the top this week.

Went to see the doctor. It was just wax build-up, so just had to buy some earwax removal kit. Doc also said to never use cotton swabs and such to try to clean it, which my dad advocated about 8 times. Good thing I stopped listening to my parents a few years ago.

Should I do a complete Vocaloid Ranking post, with each song listed with its link?

Post-Holiday Festivities

Is it just me, or do all other people’s parents do Christmas stuff after Christmas is over?

I don’t really recall what we did exactly on Christmas, but I do remember it wasn’t fancy. At all. I wanted to try cooking some Christmas dinner or whatnot, but no…Anyway, things started happened over the weekend. Because Asians like to take advantage of the after-Christmas sales. As Russell Peters puts it, it’s pronounced “cheap”, but what it really means is “smart”. So we did our Christmas shopping on December 26, armed with coupons and gift cards–the ultimate thrifty combo. Not that I’m complaining, I’ve been telling my parents to put off buying new shoes to replace my ripping ones until the after-Christmas sale. Which we did. I found out that I really like New Balance shoes–they feel so comfortable (or maybe my feet have just gotten used to them…yes, I do keep buying the same model). Also got a new black jacket to replace/add on to my old small black jacket with a broken zipper, as well as some bed sheets (75% off). I wanted to get the pink ones, but the size wasn’t right, so I ended up with sage green sheets.

After the obligatory “After-Christmas shopping” were of course the obligatory “After-Christmas dinners”. Those were a bloody pain in the colon. A metaphorical period, if you will (sorry, ladies). While my parents talked with friends, I sat there for the most of 2-3 hours staring at the half-full/half-empty plates of food, singing Kimi no Shiranai Monogatari to myself. 1/4 deaf, too. The ear blockage came back again. I think I’m starting to get used to being half deaf in my left ear.

Must see doctor soon.

Merry Christmas!

Posted in Life on December 25, 2009 by kumoriha

Merry Christmas! We’re not doing anything! Christmas feels so…unholiday-like. So sad.

I failed at making ichigo daifuku (strawberry daifuku) today. The red bean paste was too wet and wouldn’t stick on the strawberry…or itself. >_>
I think the mochi didn’t have enough water either. Oh well. It tasted okay. Just looked like the feces of a cross between Godzilla and Cthulu.

Edit: Din-dins with family’s friends at Korean BBQ place. Yummy. Also, Luka says Merry Christmas with a new song — Tower.

Christmas Eve

Posted in Life on December 24, 2009 by kumoriha

Yay, my ear cleared up magically! That aside, I just realized it was Christmas Eve.

You know, in anime and stuff they say it’s supposed to be a day for couples, but you don’t see that very often in real life. It’s more like “parents drag you around to spend time with family”, which kinda sucks. In my case, anyway.

I suppose you could always go the radical path and bake a cake for yourself and your Love Plus partner. Oh so ronery. Speaking of which, I haven’t played Love Plus in months. I’m kinda scared now, since Manaka might start yelling at me when I turn it on.

Women are scary, whether real or fake.
