Whoo! Yeah.

Well, it happened. 1 million views. One month. Congratulations, World’s End Dancehall. And there seem to be a bunch of covers and mixes that sprang up overnight. Great.

The end of Durarara!! approaches. This Thursday, the last episode (24) comes out. I can sense a lukewarm ending, but let’s just hope it turns out all right. With a second season. I must read the novels…
Still, it’s kind of sad. Durarara!! brought me to the Colorless. Okay, well, it’s now overrun by “newfags” and is turning into 4chan, but there are still some good things left. Also began Skype-ing with some of the “oldfags.” I HAVE FINALLY ACHIEVED CONTACT WITH A FEMININE GUY. I thought he seriously was a girl at first. That’s one thing crossed out in my To-Do list. Just need to meet Danny Choo and Sekihan/Pico now.

Obligatory Shizaya magnet pic:

I think the last episode of Angel Beats is also this Friday? Not sure, but looking at the preview, it sure sounds like it. Ah, all these epic anime are ending. Quite sad. Hoping the summer series have some nice ones as well.

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
ニート(niito) – NEET. In other words, “Not in Employment, Education, or Training.” Usually hikikomori fall into this category. It’d be so nice to live as a NEET, hmm?

K-On!! Episode 2

Posted in Anime with tags on April 14, 2010 by kumoriha

I don’t really care what happens in this episode. The only thing that’s important is Mio’s ponytail.

Moe moe kyuuuun~ Yeah. This all started with Haruhi…
Anyway, I need to get back to work. 30 emails popped up in one day…argh.

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
うざい(uzai) – mostly used as “annoying.” Often contracted to うぜえええええ(uzeeeee….).

Durarara!! New Season (?)

Posted in Anime with tags , on April 9, 2010 by kumoriha

New episode is out. And wow, so much stuff in this episode. This would be episode 13, by the way. Celty gets more and more tsundere by the episode. And by the way, anyone know where I can get Orihara Izaya’s jacket?

A really low quality upload of The Disappearance of Suzumiya Haruhi is spotted. *poof*

Going on 2 hours and cake right now. Not fun.

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
失礼します(shitsurei shimasu) – literally “I will be rude”; used generally as “excuse me” or something along that connotation. Depends on the situation, I guess. Used when entering homes generally.

Arakawa Under The Bridge

Posted in Anime with tags on April 7, 2010 by kumoriha

New anime season, new anime. I recently watched the first episode of Arakawa Under The Bridge. It’s quite random, but I like Arararagi-kun Kou’s tsukommi, as always. Anyway, each episode is divided into little sub-parts, each of which are…pretty random. I think the people I hang out with would like it very much, although the recap every some seconds gets unnecessary. Anyway, good anime. Kamiya Hiroshi strikes again.

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
空耳(soramimi) – literally “empty ear”; refers mainly to misinterpreting lyrics on purpose for comedic purposes. For example, in Yoppei’s videos, people often do soramimi of his singing: deatte yokatta becomes ta ga atte yokatta (“I’m glad to have met you” to “I’m glad I have hands”) Lots of English soramimi too.

Angel Beats!

April’s here, which means a month of awesome new anime coming out. Black Rock Shooter, K-On!!, and another new series called Angel Beats! As you can see, the main heroine is Suzumiya Haruhi, who’s back for more action, this time after death.

So the story is, there’s a school in the afterlife to where one is sent. And in that school, the main heroine Haruhi Yuri leads the SOS Brigade SSS against God and the evil angel student government. Yeah. It looks pretty awesome, actually, and the story concept isn’t bad.
Trailer:

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
当たり前(atarimae) – “Of course,” “clearly,” that sort of thing.

Just according to keikaku…

A nice list of random subbing failures and trolls over at Sankaku Complex. By the way, keikaku means plan.

Lately I’ve been wondering about what I’ve been doing these past years. Not much, really. I haven’t given any real thoughts about the future until I met Danny Choo. ‘s blog. It was very inspiring. Really, the things I’ve done that I actually count as important all stem from some inspiring influences. In any case, hopefully I end up relatively successful somewhere in Tokyo in the future.

Read Densha Otoko (Train Man) last night when I was supposed to be working too. I was very moved. 2ch is awesome.

Also, cosMo(暴走P) has a new song:

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
計画(keikaku) – No, just kidding.
消失(shoushitsu) – disappearance. Like 初音ミクの消失(Hatsune Miku no Shoushitsu) or 涼宮ハルヒの消失(Suzumiya Haruhi no Shoushitsu), which I have still yet to watch.

Random Tangents

If people tell you to run a tournament, decline. It’s a hell lot of work, especially when other people repeatedly make mistakes. Oh, and the players too. They can’t read. At all.

Neither can their freaking parents.

Which was okay (or rather, I didn’t know much about it) until I actually took over part of handling them. PR sucks.

Anyway, after spending 2-3 hours fixing up a spreadsheet for the next round as quickly as I could, since the original wrong spreadsheet was already posted for some reason, I went on KGS. What started as a discussion about a teaching game my friend was giving quickly turned into otaku talk.

I don’t really remember how it happened, but we somehow went from tesujis and weak shape to Lucky Star, Black Rock Shooter, Haruhi, and Kaiba shachou. Yeah. Some guy came in…and quickly left.

Isn’t it great how Go can help you make friends?

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
手筋(tesuji) – A skillful or clever play in Go. I guess you can use it out of context too, but I don’t know if many people will understand.
