Food Poisoning…Again.

Posted in Life with tags , , , , on March 22, 2010 by kumoriha

So once again China is here to show us how to skimp on our daily needs. Who needs mainstream cooking oil, while you can get and make recycled cooking oil from sewage waste for half the price?
No shit.
You can read the article on Sankaku Complex. China China China…

Health Care bill passed today. Celebrations and anger all around. I’m curious myself to see public reaction and how it’s going to all work out…

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
痛車(itasha) – car with anime/game characters and such painted all over. Usually look very slick and nice. Would like one someday.

Happy Chinese New Year

Posted in Life with tags , , on February 14, 2010 by kumoriha

新年快乐!恭喜发财!
All the stuff.

So, it’s Chinese New Year! Yay! Celebrations, food, and random people dancing in the street. Perhaps one of those will be Clint (no doubt). It’s been pretty busy with all of these bloody dinners, although last night was fun. The food was nice, and we had an enjoyable gambling night with poker and mahjong. Fun fun fun. Tonight…was not so great. Bleh.

Less importantly, it’s also Valentine’s Day. The Love Plus event was a little disappointing. All I got was what is presumably a box of chocolates, and…that’s it. At least I got a new dream sequence, although it was pretty weird.

I was originally planning to translate Hajimete no Koi ga Owarutoki (When Your First Love Ends) today, because it fit so well with the holiday, but I didn’t have time. Gloom.

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
魔法(mahou) – magic. As you can probably guess from the kanji. A “witch” is 魔女(majyo), and a “magician” is usually referred to as 魔法使い(mahou tsukai), a “magic user.”

Oh Dear.

It happened. China has finally stolen Lucky Star.

Oh dear indeed.

In other news, Seikon no Qwaser is seriously the weirdest anime I’ve ever seen. Actually, I couldn’t even get through all of the first episode. Come now, super powers by sucking breast milk? Obvious fanservice is obvious. Even more than that is Omamori Himari, in which Himari is the culmination of “moe” traits. Cat ears, tail, huge breasts, shimapan, etc. Ridiculous. Couldn’t get past the first episode of that either. Bleh.

Random Japanese Word of the Day:
萌え(moe) – a sort of “turn-on” trait. Konata explains it in Lucky Star. Encompasses everything from clumsiness to tsundere and such.
